“On June 2nd 2012 I fracture my patella in a fall. The orthopedic surgeon told me to keep my knee in a leg brace for 7 weeks, I did that and my fractured healed wonderfully. The first time I went to physical therapy the people there overworked my knee and I tore my quadriceps. We did not know that at the time, but my knee was swollen and ice packs did nothing to it.
I went to see the orthopedic surgeon again and told him exactly what happened. He just stated : you have fluid in the knee and it has to be taken out. When he took the big syringe to extract the fluid, nothing came out, so he declared you have “fiber clusters”? I don’t know what that meant, but he told me that I have to exercise every day for one hour, as I refused to go back to physical therapy, I could do these exercises at home in my pool.
I saw my orthopedic surgeon every Monday, after three weeks exercises I could still not lift and stretch out my leg, so the surgeon did an ultrasound. We found out that I had a tear in the quadriceps ( from first time in physical therapy) and I needed surgery to correct that. That would mean: surgery, then three month in a leg brace and three month recovery!! Absolutely not.
